The School of Bioinformatics has initiated its registration process, aiming to select a maximum of 25 students each in two categories: Junior (grades 6–8) and Senior (grades 9–11). The program is designed to ignite interest among school and college students in the fascinating fields of bioinformatics and genomics.

Scheduled to be held from December 13 to December 28 at the Maksudul Alam Science Lab in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, this seven-day camp will offer hands-on learning opportunities. Students will engage in activities such as DNA sequencing, sequence alignment, and genetic data analysis, exploring how DNA and genes function, how genetic diseases are identified, and the potential of genetic data in personalized medicine.

The workshop will include 14 sessions, conducted by university professors, researchers, and scientists. Participants will also develop their own projects to present at a concluding ceremony in January at the University of Dhaka.

The event is jointly organized by the Bangladesh Association for the Advancement of Science (SPSB), the Global Network of Bangladeshi Biotechnologists (GNOBB), and the Maksudul Alam Science Lab (MASLab). It is supported by the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Dhaka University, the Plant Biotechnology Lab, the Center for Bioinformatics Learning Advancement and Systematic Training (CBLAST), and Chiral Bangladesh.

Earlier this year, a hybrid workshop titled "AS Islam School of Life" was organized by the same groups, where six selected participants successfully collaborated with researchers on their own projects. The organizers plan to host more such events in the future to make biology accessible and engaging for students.
